50-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies In Couva Crash

A motorcyclist is dead following a road traffic accident in Mc Bean, Couva, on Saturday afternoon (13th September, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Rakesh Ragoonanan, aka ‘Ronnie,’ of Local Road, Mc Bean, Couva. He was a well-known cyclist and coach.

According to reports, Ragoonanan was riding North along the Southern Main Road, Mc Bean, Couva, around 3:00 PM, when he allegedly overtook a vehicle and collided with the front-right side of a black Nissan Cube, driven by a Claxton Bay man, that was heading South, near the entrance to Orangefield.

Ragoonanan was thrown from his motorcycle and left unresponsive on the roadway.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified. Ragoonanan was conveyed to the Couva Health Facility, where he was pronounced dead, around 4:10 PM.

Both vehicles involved in the collision were severely damaged and subsequently removed from the scene by wrecking services.

His body was later transferred to the San Fernando Mortuary, where a post-mortem will be conducted.

Investigations are continuing into the fatal crash.
