78-Year-Old Man Dies After Parked SUV Rolls Over Him While Holding Infant Grandson
A man is dead after a parked SUV rolled backwards over him in Talparo on Saturday afternoon (13th September, 2025), while holding his infant grandson. The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Jimmy Baal of #29 Chickland Road, Caparo.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred when a silver Mitsubishi Pajero, parked on a remote agricultural property off Forestry Road, Tamana Road, Talparo, began to roll backwards, around 4:30 PM. Baal, who was standing behind the vehicle holding his 3-year-old grandson, Nathanian Baal, was struck as the vehicle rolled over him.
Emergency Health Services were notified and responded promptly to the scene. Baal was conveyed to the Arima General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His grandson was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope and is currently listed in stable condition while under observation.
Investigations are continuing.
