Electrical Upgrade Works For THREE (3) Days At Mount Hope Hospital; Several Scheduled Services Postponed

The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) is advising the public that essential and urgent electrical upgrade works will be undertaken on one (1) of the two (2) major transformers on the electrical grid at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC), from 6:00 AM on Friday (19th September, 2025) to 6:00 AM on Monday (22nd September, 2025).

The NCRHA said, “This upgrade exercise is being undertaken with aim to improve the reliability of our electrical system to better serve our patients and their families.”

For this period, the following scheduled services will be postponed:

  • Outpatient clinics for Friday (19th September, 2025).
  • Radiology appointments (CT scans, MRls, Ultrasounds, X-rays) for all three (3) days.
  • Elective surgeries for Friday (19th September, 2025).


Patients with scheduled appointments on Friday (19th September, 2025)
 will be contacted with rescheduled dates by Thursday (18th September, 2025). If you are not contacted by Thursday, please call the following number: 1-868-645-2629.

According to the NCRHA, “Critical and emergency patients will be seen at our Emergency Departments and those persons that require non-urgent care are asked to utilize our District Healthcare Facilities and Health Centres during this period. All critical care will continue uninterrupted, with contingency plans in place to safeguard patients and staff.”

The NCRHA said it “thanks the public for their patience and understanding as we strengthen the reliability of our healthcare services.”
