Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Highway Under Walkover Near Chase Village Flyover
UPDATE (22/09/25): The deceased has been identified as Isaiah Bachoo of Freeport.
A pedestrian was struck and killed and run over by several vehicles while attempting to cross the Northbound lanes of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, just after the Chase Village Flyover, late on Saturday night (20th September, 2025). The deceased has not yet been identified.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred near the Seereeram Brothers Walkover, around 10:30 PM, when a 20-year-old male driver of Pepper Village, Gran Couva, was heading Northbound in a black Nissan Note. He suddenly saw a man attempting to cross the Highway and swerved East in an attempt to avoid hitting the pedestrian. However, the victim was still struck by the vehicle and he fell onto the roadway.
After the first vehicle struck the pedestrian, the body became dismembered as it was run over and dragged by several other vehicles that failed to stop.
The vehicle that initially struck the pedestrian was later wrecked from the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
More on this as it becomes available.
