TWO (2) Men Arrested Following Violent Robbery In Sangre Grande; Manhunt On For Third Suspect

Police have arrested and detained two (2) suspects in connection with a robbery with violence incident that occurred on Sunday morning (21st September, 2025), in the Sangre Grande district.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 11:30 AM, a 53-year-old taxi driver of Guaico was operating his blue Honda Civic from the Ojoe Road taxi stand, when he picked up three (3) male passengers requesting transport to Cyprus Road, Picton Road Extension.

Upon reaching the location, however, one of the suspects, seated behind the victim, placed him in a headlock and began choking him. During the struggle, another suspect struck the victim across the face and stole approximately $100 from his possession. The victim managed to escape the vehicle, at which point one of the suspects took control of the vehicle and drove off in a Westerly direction along Cyprus Road.

Police were contacted and Officers from the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF), along with CID Officers, responded promptly to the scene. The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned at Turure Cemetery and processed by CSI personnel.

Following swift investigative efforts, the TTPS said two (2) male suspects, eighteen (18) and nineteen (19) years of age, both of Sangre Grande, were arrested later the same day and are currently in custody at the Sangre Grande Police Station, pending further enquiries.

Investigations are ongoing as Officers continue to pursue the third suspect involved in the incident.

The TTPS said it “remains committed to ensuring public safety and urges anyone with information regarding this matter to contact the Sangre Grande Police Station or call 999, 555, or Crime Stoppers.”

More on this as it becomes available.
