WASA Completes Wastewater Pipeline Repairs Along Sutton Street, San Fernando

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said it has successfully completed a project to replace seventy (70) meters of sewer pipeline along Sutton Street (between Prince of Wales and Prince Albert Streets), San Fernando.

In a Media Release today (Sunday 7th September, 2025), WASA said the upgrade, which began on Friday (5th September, 2025), directly benefits approximately 200 residents and addresses a critical public health concern.

According to WASA, the issue was identified on 16th August, 2025, “during a community tour by WASA's Executive Evolution Team and Dr. the Honourable Michael Dowlath, MP for San Fernando West, and Minister of Education. In response, WASA's Acting CEO, Jeevan Joseph, committed to resolving the problem of an overflowing manhole before the start of the 2025 - 2026 Academic Year.”

The WASA Wastewater Services Team worked continuously, including overnight to ensure that the works were completed on schedule today (Sunday 7th September, 2025), before the start of the new school term and the anticipated increase in traffic.

The Authority notes that temporary reinstatement of the impacted roadway has been completed, with permanent reinstatement expected within the next three (3) weeks.

Acting CEO Joseph emphasized that this work reflects WASA's renewed commitment to addressing water and wastewater issues swiftly and effectively, as part of its evolution into a more responsive and customer-centric utility.
