45-Year-Old Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run After Exiting Taxi Along Highway In Arima

A woman is dead following a hit-and-run accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Arima on Sunday morning (5th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Simone Rose of Maloney Gardens.

According to eyewitness reports, Rose exited a taxi on the shoulder of the Eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, O'Meara, around 6:30 AM. However, while standing on the shoulder of the Highway, she was struck by an oncoming white car. The driver of that car, after striking Rose, sped off and failed to stop.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified. Highway Patrol Officers responded to the report and found the victim unresponsive on the roadway.

Onlookers were unable to provide Officers with the vehicle’s make or license plate number.

The injured woman was conveyed to the Arima General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Anyone with information about this tragic incident is urged to contact the nearest Police Station.

Investigations are continuing.
