Firearms, Narcotics Seized; Suspects Arrested During Nationwide Exercises

Anti-crime operations across several Policing Divisions resulted in multiple seizures and arrests on Friday (17th October, 2025), in the lead-up to the long Divali holiday weekend.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), in the San Juan Police District, Officers seized a high-powered rifle hidden under a galvanize sheet, during a search at a location in the Mt. Hope Extension area. Additionally, Officers of the Morvant Police District conducted road and building searches in the 7th and 9th Avenue, Malick areas, in response to recent reports of Facebook Marketplace robberies. Officers stopped and searched several vehicles and six (6) Fixed Penalty Notices were issued.

Meanwhile, in the Southern Division, intelligence-led operations targeting known offenders resulted in the arrest of a male suspect for possession of 135 grams of cannabis. Officers also recovered a firearm in Lengua Village, Moruga. 

In the Port-of-Spain Division, a roving street check operation covering Beetham Gardens, Sea Lots, Picton, and other areas, led to the arrest of a suspect for possession of a firearm and ammunition. 

Also, an intelligence-driven exercise, led by the Special Investigations Unit in the Central Division, led to the discovery of ten (10) rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, one (1) air rifle, two (2) rifle scopes, and two (2) imitation firearms, during a search at Max Murphy Street, Chaguanas. Three (3) occupants of the premises were detained, pending further enquiries.




The TTPS added, “These co-ordinated operations are expected to continue over the long holiday weekend and form part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to disrupt criminal networks, remove illegal firearms from communities, and enhance public safety nationwide.”
