Point Fortin Teen Held With Firearms And Ammunition
Police have arrested a man and seized two (2) firearms along with a quantity of ammunition, during an intelligence-led operation in the Point Fortin area on Saturday afternoon (11th October, 2025).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 3:15 PM, Officers received information regarding an armed man in the vicinity of School Road, Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin. A party of Officers proceeded to the location in an unmarked vehicle, where they drove along a dirt road leading to a white concrete structure.
There, they observed a man who, upon looking in the direction of the approaching vehicle, began to run. The Officers alighted from the vehicle and gave chase. While running along the muddy terrain, an object fell from the suspect’s waist area, and he stumbled in the mud, falling to the ground.
The Officers retrieved the object, which was found to be a Glock-17 pistol, fitted with a magazine containing seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm ammunition. The 19-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Later that evening, at approximately 9:15 PM, Officers accompanied the suspect to his residence, located at Lawrenceville Road, Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin. There, they conducted a search under the Emergency Powers Regulations in his presence.
During the search of a bedroom, Officers discovered a wooden and metal firearm containing one (1) round of 7.62mm ammunition, hidden in a box. A further search of the property yielded an additional five (5) 12-gauge cartridges. The firearm and ammunition were seized and conveyed to the Point Fortin Police Station.
