T&TEC Issues Advisory After Man Seen Atop Transmission Tower
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) said it “values the safety of the public, safety around its infrastructure and urges right-minded citizens to contact our emergency hotline (800-TTEC [800-8832]) if you observe a dangerous situation like the one in the video [see below].”
This comes after a man was recently captured on video sitting atop a tall transmission tower in Pt. Lisas. It is unknown if he was able to get down safely.
In a Media Release today (Friday 17th October, 2025), T&TEC said it is “aware of a video circulating on social media of an unknown person at the top of a transmission tower on Caspian Drive, Pt. Lisas. The incident is being investigated, but initial findings confirm that the person breached security barriers and ignored safety signs to access the tower.”
The Commission added that it “takes this opportunity to advise the public that the electricity lines on transmission towers are energized up to 220,000 Volts. Climbing, or otherwise coming into contact with or close to, the lines can result in death by electrocution. Persons are therefore strongly cautioned to stay away from T&TEC's infrastructure.”
More on this as it becomes available.
