Following the indefinite shutdown of the United States Government at 12:01 AM on Wednesday (1st October, 2025), the U.S. Embassy in Port-of-Spain is advising that scheduled Passport and Visas services will continue “as the situation permits.”
In a statement issued to its X (formerly Twitter) account at 10:18 AM on Wednesday, the Embassy said, “Due to the lapse in appropriations, this X account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information.”
The Embassy added, “At this time, scheduled Passport and Visas services in the United States and at U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits. We will not update this account until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information. For information on our services and operating status, visit travel.state.gov.”
