The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs is advising the public that the USS Gravely (DDG-107) will visit Trinidad and Tobago from 26th to 30th October, 2025, mooring in Port-of-Spain, while the 22nd U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct joint training with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) during the same period. The U.S. military services’ presence in Trinidad and Tobago highlights the U.S. commitment to regional security and co-operative efforts in the Caribbean.
In a Media Release on Thursday (23rd October, 2025), the Ministry said the visit strengthens U.S.-Trinidad and Tobago military-to-military co-operation “through expert exchanges focused on core infantry tactics, maintenance procedures, and advanced medical capabilities, leveraging the TTDF’s facilities to enhance tactical proficiency and enhance mutual trust. These efforts strengthen interoperability, reinforce long-term defense co-operation, and improve operational readiness among partner forces.”
Meanwhile, the Port of Port-of-Spain (PPOS) is advising shipping agents that container operations on Berths 6E, 6W, and 7 will be suspended during the same period to accommodate the U.S. naval vessel. Acting CEO of the PPOS, Robert Ramsubhag, confirmed that normal container operations will not be permitted between 26th to 30th October, 2025, and requested that operators make alternative arrangements.
The visit of the USS Gravely follows the recent docking of the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), which concluded its Continuing Promise 2025 humanitarian mission in August.
The Ministry and the Port will continue to co-ordinate logistics to ensure smooth operations during the vessel’s stay in Trinidad and Tobago.
More on this as it becomes available.
