28-Year-Old Chaguanas Woman Found Hanging In Home Amid Custody Battle Over Her Kids
A woman was found hanging in her family’s home in Endeavour, Chaguanas, on Thursday morning (13th November, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Karen Ramlochan, a call centre worker of Balchan Street, Chaguanas. She was said to have been depressed in recent weeks amid a custody battle with the father of her two (2) young children.
According to reports, Ramlochan was discovered in an adjoining room of her home, around 10:00 AM on Thursday, after relatives and a co-worker became increasingly worried when they were unable to contact her.
The co-worker had contacted Police around 9:30 AM after repeated calls to Ramlochan went unanswered. Officers then went to the home, where they met the deceased’s father, 66-year-old David Ramlochan. He led them to a locked room he had been trying to gain access to all morning, without success.
With help from relatives, Officers were eventually able to breach a side door. Inside, they found Ramlochan’s motionless body hanging from a curtain, which was tied to the wall above the doorway. She was dressed in jeans and a black top, and appeared to be frothing from the mouth. No marks of violence were observed on her body.
The scene was secured by Officers and a District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who later ordered the removal of the body, pending an autopsy.
Relatives told investigators that Ramlochan came home intoxicated around 11:00 PM on Wednesday (12th November, 2025) after a night out. A heated argument erupted between her and family members. They added that she had been deeply depressed in recent weeks due to a custody battle she was engaged in with the father of her two (2) young children.
During the argument, Ramlochan reportedly declared, “I going and kill myself!” before shutting herself inside the room where she was later found.
Despite their attempts to reach her afterward, however, the door remained locked and no sounds were heard from inside.
Investigations are continuing while family and community members mourn the tragic loss.
