34-Year-Old Man Dies After Car Plunges Into Ditch At Indian Trail, Couva; Driver Hospitalized

A man is dead and a woman hospitalized following a road traffic accident along the Southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Indian Trail, Couva, early this morning (Thursday 13th November, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Paul Nanan of Buen Intento Road, Princes Town.

According to reports, Highway Patrol Officers PC Boodoo and PC Bridgemohan responded to reports of a serious road traffic accident along the Southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Indian Trail, Couva, around 5:00 AM.

Upon arrival, the Officers discovered a white Nissan Versa (PDE 3771) lying in a ditch on the shoulder of the Highway. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Inside were the female driver, identified as Angel Alexis Dyer of Guanapo Estate, Rio Claro, and her front-seat passenger, Nanan. Both are said to have sustained serious injuries.

The woman told investigators that while driving South along the Highway, around 4:50 AM, she lost control of the vehicle near Indian Trail, causing it to skid off the roadway and crash into a ditch.

Emergency responders and a team of Fire Officers from the Couva Fire Station, as well as EHS personnel, rushed to the scene. Dyer and Nanan were conveyed to the Couva District Hospital for emergency medical treatment, where Nanan succumbed to his injuries.

Cpl. Boodlal of the Couva Police Station visited the Hospital and confirmed Nanan‘s death.

Investigations are continuing into the fatal crash.
