Contraband Seized At External Remand Facility And Golden Grove Prison
A co-ordinated joint operation conducted by Officers of the Prison Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), between 10:00 PM on Tuesday (4th November, 2025) and 2:30 AM on Wednesday (5th November, 2025), resulted in the discovery and seizure of a significant quantity of contraband items at the external remand facility and the refurbished Golden Grove Prison, Arouca.
In a Media Release, the TTPS said the exercise was co-ordinated by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Allister Guevarro, Ag. Commissioner of Prisons, Mr. Hayden Forde, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms. Suzette Martin, and supervised by Senior Superintendent Lee Davis.
Participating Officers included ASP Stanley, Ag. Cpl Williams, Ag. Cpl Hyde, WPC Joseph, PC Fabres, PC Gibson, and PC Parsons.
During the course of the operation, Officers discovered and seized the following items:
- 14 cell phones.
- 12 SIM cards.
- 10 USB cords.
- 15 cell phone chargers.
- 5 headsets.
- A quantity of marijuana.
- A quantity of loose cigarettes.
- Several packs of wrapping paper.
- A 1-litre Cole Cold bottle with a false bottom.
- 3 improvised weapons.
- A flick knife.
- A silver spoon.
The TTPS notes that a total of eight (8) inmates are expected to be formally charged in the coming weeks for various offences arising from this operation.
The Media Release concluded by saying, “The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Prisons Authority remain committed to maintaining the safety and security of all correctional facilities and will continue to conduct joint operations aimed at eliminating the entry and use of contraband within the prison system.”
