ELEVEN (11) Suspected Venezuelan Nationals Held In Erin, Quantities of Contraband Seized
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), eleven (11) suspected Venezuelan nationals, including one (1) minor, were detained and quantities of contraband seized by Officers of the South Western Division, during an Operation HELIOS exercise this weekend.
Reports indicate that Task Force Officers - Areas East and West, with the assistance of personnel of the Erin Police Station, Canine Unit and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, conducted the exercise between 8:00 AM on Saturday (22nd November, 2025) and 8:00 AM on Sunday (23rd November, 2025), in the Erin district.
Acting on intelligence, the Officers proceeded to the Erin Beach Facility, where they found eleven (11) persons believed to be Venezuelan nationals, who are in the country illegally, hiding in a bushy area.
Further searches along the shoreline resulted in the discovery of 112 bottles of alcohol and quantities of sausage and cheese.
Officials of the Immigration Division were contacted and investigations are ongoing.
The operation was sanctioned by DCP ‘Operations,’ Suzette Martin, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson and co-ordinated by ASPs Corrie and Forbes.
