The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is advising the public that an inmate has been reported missing and is believed to have escaped from the Carrera Convict Prison — an island prison — on Friday (14th November, 2025).

According to the TTPS, around 8:32 PM, prison authorities discovered that prisoner Jamal Joseph was not in his assigned cell during routine checks. The inmate is currently serving a 5-year sentence for larceny of a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to hard labour on 11th June, 2025, after pleading guilty to stealing a white Nissan B15, valued at $67,000, from beneath the owner’s shed in Couva in late April. His earliest possible release date was 9th October, 2028.

Joseph is said to have six (6) previous convictions, including one for a similar offence.
