2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season Officially Ends

The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ended on Sunday (30th November, 2025).

The Atlantic basin produced thirteen (13) named storms (winds of 39 mph or greater), of which five (5) became Hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or greater), including four (4) major Hurricanes with winds reaching 111 mph or greater. An average season has fourteen (14) named storms, seven (7) Hurricanes, and three (3) major Hurricanes.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Melissa developed into the third Category 5 Hurricane of the season and became one of the strongest Atlantic basin Hurricane landfalls on record when it made landfall in Southwestern Jamaica on 28th October, 2025, bringing extensive damage to Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Eastern Cuba. 

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is reminding the public that we are still in the Wet Season, which usually runs until December.

The Met Office notes that December 2025 rainfall totals are likely to be near-normal to above-normal over Trinidad and Tobago.
