UPDATE (25/12/25): The woman accused of stabbing Stephan Roberts to death during a confrontation in Diego Martin — Eden Balroop — has been released from custody for now, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) ordered an inquest into the circumstances surrounding his murder.
Another woman who was also initially detained — Shania Murray — was later released after Police determined she was not responsible for the fatal injuries to Roberts.
A man is dead and a woman injured following a stabbing incident in Diego Martin on Wednesday night (17th December, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old courier, Stephan Roberts, of Agua Santa Avenue, Diego Martin. He was allegedly stabbed while attempting to intervene in a fight between two (2) female employees of SuperPharm, Diego Martin.
According to reports, a cashier at SuperPharm, identified as 21-year-old Kaleisha Dean, had just completed her shift and crossed the road to Sierre Leone Street, around 8.30 PM, when she was allegedly confronted by a colleague, identified as 24-year-old Eden Balroop of Hillock Road, Blue Range, Diego Martin, with whom she had a verbal altercation earlier at work. As a result, Balroop was reportedly sent home by a Supervisor, around 7:30 PM.
However, while walking along Sierre Leone Street, Dean was allegedly confronted and attacked by Balroop. During a brief struggle, the cashier’s cellphone fell to the ground and was picked up by another woman, identified as 19-year-old Shania Murray of Roxborough Extension, Diego Martin, who had been standing with the attacker. Dean later walked towards the Diego Martin Main Road, but was pursued by the two (2) women, one of whom was reportedly armed with a switch blade, and attacked again.
Roberts, who was liming a short distance away and witnessed the incident, attempted to separate the women, but was stabbed twice in the back during the melee, while the cashier was stabbed in the right shoulder.
An off-duty Police Officer attached to the Four Roads Police Station, who was passing at the time, also intervened. As residents rushed to assist the injured victims, the two (2) women continued walking North along the Diego Martin Main Road.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and both victims were taken to the St. James Infirmary, where Roberts was pronounced dead, around 9:14 PM. Dean was treated for a stab wound to her right shoulder and later discharged.
Officers responded to the scene and subsequently detained two (2) female suspects after their clothing were found to be soaked in blood. During questioning, the women — Balroop and Murray — allegedly admitted being involved in a fight with a man and a woman a short distance away.
A search revealed two (2) knives tied around their necks on strings, with what appeared to be blood on them.
The suspects were taken to the Four Roads Police Station, where they were processed and detained.
Investigations are continuing into the deadly incident.
More on this as it becomes available.
