7 Drivers, 3 Passengers Caught Without Seatbelts — Fixed Penalty Notices Issued

Police issued ten (10) Fixed Penalty Notices to drivers and passengers for failing to wear seatbelts during a traffic exercise on Monday (1st December, 2025).

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Officers of the Maloney Police Station conducted a roving traffic operation within the district. During the exercise, Officers completed eight (8) stop-and-search forms and issued ten (10) Fixed Penalty Notices — all related to failure to wear seatbelts (7 drivers and 3 passengers).

The operation was spearheaded by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, Supt. McKenzie, ASP Morales, ASP Ablacksingh, and ASP Pierre, and was co-ordinated by Cpl. Forgenie.

The TTPS is reminding the motoring public that “failing to wear a seatbelt while a vehicle is in motion is an offence and can result in a $1,000 fine. Seatbelts are critical for the safety of both drivers and passengers in the event of an accident.”

Please be guided accordingly.
