TTPS Executes MAJOR Island-Wide Precision Operations
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it executed a series of co-ordinated, intelligence-led precision operations across the island, between Tuesday (16th December, 2025) and Wednesday (17th December, 2025). These exercises were directed by Commissioner of Police, Mr. Allister Guevarro and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ms. Suzette Martin, and involved multiple specialized units working in tandem to disrupt criminal activity, dismantle illicit trade, and safeguard communities.
Illicit Trade Operations – Port-of-Spain Division
On Tuesday (16th December, 2025), between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the TTPS said Officers of the Port-of-Spain Division, led by ASP Cadette, conducted Illicit Trade Operations, targeting gaming establishments with unpaid taxes. Supported by investigators of the Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) Criminal Tax Division, Customs Officers, and personnel from multiple Police Stations, six (6) establishments were served with BIR gaming tax notices, amounting to TT $4,548,000 in unpaid taxes. Managers were instructed to shut down all gaming machines until taxes were paid.
Later that day, between 2:20 PM and 7:30 PM, ASP Cadette, W/Insp. Joseph-Taitt of the Financial Investigation Branch (FIB), and supporting Officers, conducted a second operation at a Members Club, located at Ariapita Avenue.
The Manager was served with a BIR gaming tax notice for TT $2,200,000 in unpaid taxes.
Officers seized items of evidential value and sums totalling TT $69,511. One (1) person was arrested for operating an illegal gaming house.
Contraband Interception – Carenage
At approximately 8:15 PM on Tuesday (16th December, 2025), the TTPS said Officers of the Port-of-Spain Division - Investigation and Operations Unit, supported by the POS Task Force, IATF, and Canine Unit, intercepted a vessel at Shore Pier 3, Carenage. The vessel was observed offloading boxes when Officers approached. Sixteen (16) persons were apprehended after attempting to flee. A search revealed a large shipment of contraband smuggled from Suriname, including approximately 1,000 cases of Vodka, 200 cases of Johnnie Walker, 200 cases of Hennessy, and 1,000 cases of ATLANTA cigarettes. Four (4) trucks were also seized in relation to the find.
Firearm and Narcotics Seizures – Northern and Central Division
Between 3:00 AM and 9:30 AM on Wednesday (17th December, 2025), the TTPS said co-ordinated operations were conducted in the Northern and Central Division. Officers attached to the Deputy Commissioner of Police - Operations Unit, MOPs, Defence Force Specialist Units, Fusion Centre, and Prison Service executed search warrants at multiple premises in St. Augustine and Caroni. At one location, Officers seized 1,142 grams of cannabis, TT $115,204, and US $550, detaining four (4) individuals in connection with the discovery. At another premises nearby, an AR-15 rifle was recovered. Subsequent searches, assisted by K9 Chappo, led to the discovery of a buried yellow bucket in an abandoned lot, containing five (5) kilograms of marijuana, sixty-five (65) rounds of 9mm ammunition, 239 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and fifty (50) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Commissioner Guevarro and Deputy Commissioner Martin commended the co-ordinated efforts of all units involved, emphasizing that these island-wide precision operations demonstrate the TTPS’ unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks, intercepting contraband, enforcing tax compliance, removing illegal firearms and narcotics, and safeguarding the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
