TWO (2) Male Suspects Held For Brazen PBR Maxi Taxi Robbery In Arouca
Two (2) male suspects have been held in connection with a report of robbery of a maxi taxi and its passengers along the Priority Busy Route (PBR), which occurred in the Arouca district, on 19th November, 2025.
During the shocking incident, a woman wearing a hijab, with her face fully covered except for her eyes, boarded the maxi taxi and took a seat at the back. Shortly after, she asked another passenger to ring the bell. She then stood up and while pretending to pay the driver, five (5) accomplices stormed the vehicle — one carrying a gun, another a knife — and robbed the driver and several passengers.
The robbery was captured on video inside the maxi taxi and later circulated widely on social media, sparking national outrage.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), investigations into the incident culminated in the execution of an intelligence-led operation in the Northern Division, by Officers of the North Central Division Gang and Intelligence Unit, in conjunction with the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) and the Special Forces Operations Detachment of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
During the operation, the Officers proceeded to a house in the Cumuto district, between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Thursday (27th November, 2025). Upon arrival, they arrested two (2) male suspects who were found inside a room of the house. They have been identified as Arnold Ricardo Michael, also known as “Stinkin,” of Eastern Main Road, Arouca and 33-year-old Akeeda Singh of Mulberry Drive, Jacob Hill, Arima.
Further checks of the house resulted in a revolver, loaded with six (6) rounds of ammunition and eight (8) rounds of assorted ammunition, being discovered hidden inside a black lunch bag.
The operation was spearheaded by DCP Martin, ACP Singh, ACP Thompson, Snr. Supt. Gift and Supt. Jaggernauth, co-ordinated by Sgt. (Ag.) Dardaine, Sgt. (Ag.) Patrick of the SWDTF, and supervised by Cpl. Scipio and Cpl. (Ag.) Modeste.
A female accomplice and three (3) male suspects remain at large.
