35 Motorists Tested For DUI In Central Division
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), through the Central Division DUI Task Force, conducted a targeted DUI operation aimed at promoting safer roadways and reducing impaired driving within the Central Division.
According to the TTPS, the operation took place between 6:00 PM on Wednesday (7th January, 2026) and 2:00 AM on Thursday (8th January, 2026), and was co-ordinated by Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, under the supervision of Sergeant Umaid. Officers from the Central Division DUI Task Force and the Central Division Task Force also participated in the exercise.
During the operation, thirty-five (35) motorists were tested, resulting in the arrest of four (4) individuals for various traffic-related offences, including driving under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed driving, and insurance violations. The TTPS notes that these enforcement efforts “contribute significantly to the reduction of road traffic accidents, injuries, and fatalities.”
The TTPS said it “remains committed to protecting lives, promoting responsible driving, and ensuring compliance with traffic laws. Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of alcohol or without the required documentation places not only the driver, but all road users at risk.”
The TTPS thanks law-abiding motorists for their co-operation and encourages the public to continue supporting Police initiatives aimed at improving road safety.
