Padarath RESPONDS To Rowley Calling Prime Minister A ‘Jamette’: Despicable Rowley Needs Help
“Dr. Keith Rowley's ‘jamette’ outburst exposes the arrogance, misogyny and moral collapse that defined his politics.” This from the Honourable Barry Shiva Padarath, MP, Member for Couva South, in response to statements made by former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during a Press Conference held on Tuesday (17th March, 2026), in which he once again referred to Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, as a “jamette.”
In a Media Release today (Wednesday 18th March, 2026), Padarath said the following:
Dr. Rowley's latest Press Conference was not the performance of a former Prime Minister. It was the meltdown of a bitter man whose collapsing legacy rests on contradiction and a chronic distortion of facts.
When a former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago stands before the country and refers to the sitting Prime Minister, a woman, as a “jamette,” he is not displaying strength. He is displaying spite, vulgarity and a complete absence of decency.
This is bigger than partisan politics. In a country where too many women already endure abuse, humiliation, economic pressure and disrespect, Dr. Rowley chose to contribute not maturity, not substance, not evidence, but insult. That is not leadership. That is the language of a man who believes abuse is an argument.
And that is exactly the problem with Dr. Rowley. When challenged, he does not rise to the level of accountability.
He descends into abuse.
The country has seen his pattern of being a serial fabricator before. The Police Merit List Debacle, The Interpol Watch List Claims, Emailgate, Closure of Petrotrin and the list goes on.
Just a few months ago, in a Facebook post on Dr. Rowley's Page, he ranted about the cancellation of Independence Day parade and linking it to Brian Lara, which many took this to mean that TSTT had terminated Brain Lara's brand ambassadorship with the company. Yet again another lie, because when he was Prime Minister in 2022, Brian Lara's contract was not renewed under his watch.
It appears he cannot help himself, having now elevated his conduct to that of an architect of deliberate misinformation. His pattern of compulsive falsehoods continued on March 17, 2026, where he claimed he was not invited to the PNM's 70th anniversary celebration. Yet the PNM itself, the party he once led, publicly dismantled Dr. Rowley's claim, confirming he was invited and producing a letter dated January 21, 2026, hand delivered to his residence on January 22, 2026. When even his own party must correct him, it exposes a persistent pattern that can no longer be ignored.
This is the truth about Keith Rowley's politics, when his record is questioned, he reaches for abuse, when facts corner him, he reaches for theatre, when accountability calls, he reaches for indignation. He wants the country to focus on his insults because he cannot defend his inheritance.
He cannot defend the years of economic pain under his administration. He cannot defend the collapse in confidence. He cannot defend the politics of confusion and contradiction. He cannot defend speaking to a woman, let alone the Prime Minister, in language so demeaning and gutter level that it disgraces the office he once held.
Dr. Rowley may believe that noise is strength. It is not. Abuse is not authority. Crudeness is not courage. And bitterness is not leadership.
His conduct reflects a pattern of pathological dishonesty. What we now see are not the words of a former leader, but the outbursts and tantrums of a man who cannot accept that his time has passed and has now become a repeat offender against the truth.
