Female Police Officer Killed Inside San Fernando Municipal Station; Armoury Vault Raided of Dozens of Firearms, Over 4,000 Rounds of Ammo

UPDATE 8: Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has revealed that stolen firearms may have been leaving the San Fernando Municipal Police Station and being sold on the black market for months. Speaking to reporters after a sod-turning ceremony at the Hilton Garden Inn, South Park, San Fernando, on Wednesday 22nd April, 2026, the Prime Minister disclosed that early findings suggest a prolonged pattern of illegal activity involving weapons stored at the station.

According to her, information gathered so far indicates the removal and sale of firearms was not a recent development, but a sustained operation that may have gone undetected for as long as eight (8) months. The Prime Minister suggested that the duration of the alleged activity points to significant lapses in oversight.

Meanwhile, Head of the Municipal Police, Surrendra Sagramsingh, has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.

UPDATE 7: The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) confirmed that ten (10) persons have been detained in connection with the ongoing investigation into the homicide of Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley. Several of the stolen firearms and ammunition were also recovered.

UPDATE 6: An autopsy has revealed that Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley was strangled and also suffered blunt and sharp force traumatic injuries (stab and chop wounds) — contradicting early reports that she was shot in the neck.

UPDATE 5: Crime scene investigators processed the station following the incident and recovered a range of items of evidential value, including two (2) live 9mm rounds marked “S&B 9x19,” an empty Glock magazine, Galil housing components, a green polo jersey, long blue jeans, white sneakers, a brown sheet with apparent bodily fluids, an LM cigarette box, and two (2) rolls of masking tape.

Investigators also recovered four (4) pieces of masking tape that were deliberately used to obstruct CCTV surveillance during the incident. However, CCTV technicians attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) later retrieved available footage from the scene.

UPDATE 4: Unconfirmed reports state that two (2) additional men have been held in Claxton Bay after being found in possession of some of the stolen weapons.

UPDATE 3: In response to intelligence that the stolen weapons had been moved out of the station shortly after the killing, heavily-armed Police units reportedly launched co-ordinated operations in a known crime hotspot. Multiple teams were deployed in an effort to contain any immediate threat and prevent the weapons from being distributed within criminal networks.

UPDATE 2: According to reports, a Police Officer assigned to the San Fernando Municipal Police Station has been detained as intense investigations continue into the brutal killing of Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley and the alarming theft of a cache of firearms and ammunition from the facility. He has been identified as 28-year-old PC Jivan Cooper of La Sophie Trace, Cedar Hill, Claxton Bay.

Further reports state that two (2) vehicles, one belonging to the detained Officer, believed to have been used in the killing and robbery at the station, were discovered and seized in Claxton Bay earlier today (Sunday 19th April, 2026). A marked Municipal Police pickup was also allegedly used in the operation to transport the stolen firearms and ammunition. The vehicle is believed to have acted as an escort, facilitating the movement of the weapons by ensuring that accompanying civilian vehicles were not stopped or intercepted during any unforeseen roadblocks exercises.

All three (3) vehicles have since been impounded as part of the ongoing and urgent investigation.

UPDATE: At a grim Press Conference this afternoon (Sunday 19th April, 2026), Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, said Woman Police Constable Anusha Eversley died from a gunshot wound to the neck. She was found lying motionless on a mattress inside the station’s corporal’s quarters.

Guevarro said within twenty-four (24) hours he would report back to the citizenry on the investigations into Eversley's death and the alarming disappearance of arms and ammunition from the Police Station.

A female Municipal Police Officer is dead following a chilling shooting incident inside the San Fernando Municipal Police Station early this morning (Sunday 19th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Acting Woman Corporal Anusha Eversley of Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, who was attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service (TTMPS).

According to reports, Eversley, who was on-duty at the time, was last seen alive around 10:30 PM on Saturday night (18th April, 2026) in the charge room area of the station, located at King’s Wharf, Lady Hailes Avenue. She reported for duty earlier that day, around 4:00 PM. However, at approximately 4:40 AM on Sunday, Officers returned to the area and observed it in darkness. After switching on the lights, they noticed what appeared to be blood coming from the corporal quarters.

Upon investigating, Eversley was found shot to death. She was clothed in a bra and bleeding from the nostrils.

In a further deeply disturbing discovery, the station’s armoury vault was open and completely cleared out, raising serious security concerns for the country. Reports indicate that fifty-two (52) 9mm Glock pistols are missing, along with six (6) shotguns, four (4) MPX firearms, and over 4,000 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Police secured the area and a full-scale probe is underway into both the killing of the Officer and the apparent raid on the station’s armoury.

Distraught relatives of the deceased Officer arrived at the scene shortly after, as undertakers left with her body.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that three (3) Police Officers were assigned to duty at the station prior to the discovery early this morning.

Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, and Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, also made their way to the scene.

Police units remain on the scene as investigations are continuing to determine the timeline of events, including how the breach occurred and whether the incident involved insiders or external perpetrators.
