23-Year-Old Man Arrested In Moruga For Excavator Parts Theft

UPDATE (24/04/26): A 23-year-old Moruga man, identified as Jehu Buchoon, has been found guilty in connection with a report of larceny made on Friday 17th April, 2026, in the Moruga district. The matter was heard at the South AJIPA Court before Master Grey, where Buchoon pleaded guilty and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $55,000. As part of the bail conditions, the accused is required to reside at his home address and report to the Moruga Police Station on given days.

The matter has since been transferred to the Princes Town District Court. The next hearing is scheduled for 26th May, 2026.

Investigations were conducted under the supervision of W/Supt. Bridglal, ASP Chulhan, Inspector Charles and Ag. Sgt Othello.

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) have arrested a suspect and recovered stolen items in connection with a report of larceny of excavator parts in the Moruga district.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 2:00 PM on Friday (17th April, 2026), Police responded to a report of persons removing parts from a 320CL Excavator at Maitland Trace, Basse Terre, Moruga.

The 51-year-old victim, of Jacksingh Street, Woodland, reported that on 8th April, 2026, he received information that unknown persons were removing parts from his excavator, located at Maitland Trace, Basse Terre, Moruga. 

The stolen items were reported as an excavator turbo valued at $5,000, a fuel pump valued at $10,000, a turbo manifold valued at $1,000, and approximately twelve (12) feet of tracks, valued at $1,500, with a total estimated value of $17,500.

Further information received led the victim to an address at La Fortune Trace, Moruga, on 9th April, 2026, where he observed the missing items.

Following enquiries conducted by PC Dookeran of the Moruga Police Station, a 23-year-old suspect of La Fortune Trace, Moruga, was arrested. 

Officers recovered an excavator turbo and approximately twelve (12) feet of tracks during the operation.

The scene, along with the recovered items, was processed by Crime Scene Investigator W/Cpl. Charles of the Princes Town Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
