Trump RESPONDS After Russian Drones Strike Deep Inside Poland, A NATO Member

Polish authorities said there were nineteen (19) incursions into its airspace on Tuesday night (9th September, 2025), in which several Russian drones were shot down over Poland by NATO-member warplanes. This was the first time the NATO alliance engaged Russian drones over a member’s territory, leading officials to believe it was a test of its defenses by Moscow.
Following the brazen act of aggression by Russia on a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member, United States President Donald Trump responded this morning (Wednesday 10th September, 2025) on Truth Social, saying, “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!”

What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!
The incident led authorities to close four (4) major Airports in Poland for the first time since the Ukraine war began. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland said of the incursions, “I have no reason to claim we’re on the brink of war, but a line has been crossed, and it’s incomparably more dangerous than before.” He added, “This situation brings us the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II.”
Russian warplanes have long tested NATO’s responses by flying near or even into the airspace of alliance members. NATO countries routinely rotate air-policing duties along alliance borders.
Tuesday night’s drone incursions reached farther West over Poland than at any time previously reported during the Russia-Ukraine war. Drone parts were found in the villages of Mniszkow, Central Poland, and Czesniki in the country’s Southeast region, among other places, according to local mayors. Eastern regions of Poland were most affected by the incident, including around Warsaw, in which residents are warned to stay at home.
When questioned by reporters about whether NATO regarded the incident as a deliberate attack or a mistake, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said a full assessment was continuing. “Whether it was intentionally or not, it is absolutely reckless. It is absolutely dangerous,” Rutte said. “I think last night showed that we are able to defend every inch of NATO territory, including, of course, its airspace.”
Several Dutch F-35 and Polish F-16 jet fighters were involved in the operation to shoot down the drones, some of which are said to have entered via Belarus, a move Polish Prime Minister Tusk said was unprecedented. Tusk added that some three (3) to four (4) drones, which posed a direct threat, were shot down.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said on X, “I’m glad that Dutch F35 fighter jets were able to provide support. The Netherlands stands shoulder to shoulder with our NATO ally Poland.”
“Increasing evidence indicates that this movement, this direction of strike, was no accident,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on X, adding that the use of “combat aircraft from several European countries simultaneously to shoot down Russian weapons and protect human lives is highly significant.”
After the incursions, Belarus said it had warned Poland about the likelihood of drones entering its territory as a result of electronic warfare deployed by Ukraine to counter the latest Russian attack.
“This helped the Polish side react quickly to the drone activity,” said Pavel Muraveiko, the head of Belarus’s armed forces. He added that Belarus had also shot down drones that entered its airspace as a result of jamming.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment specifically on the incident, but said the leadership of the European Union and NATO “nearly daily accuse Russia of provocations, most often without even trying to present their line of reason.”
Russia’s Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said it had no plans to strike any targets in Poland and was ready to carry out consultations with the Polish military on the incident. It also said the drones that crossed the border have a flight limit of around 400 miles, a distance that could make launching them from Russia difficult.
