30-Year-Old Man Dies In Highway Crash Near UWI Traffic Lights
A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, near the UWI traffic lights, early this morning (Thursday 9th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Robinson Carrasquero-Anpunez.
According to reports, Carrasquero-Anpunez was driving a silver Toyota Aqua (PDX 1832), when his vehicle was allegedly struck on the left-side by a black Hyundai Ioniq (PDZ 9059), driven by George Lezama, of Quash Trace, Sangre Grande, near the UWI traffic lights. Both vehicles sustained extensive damages.
Doctors from the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope contacted the St. Joseph Police Station, around 2:55 AM, and reported that Carrasquero-Anpunez had been brought in by Emergency Health Services after being involved in a crash.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Hospital minutes earlier, around 2:47 AM.
Lezama remains in stable but critical condition.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fatal crash.
