BODY of Missing Businessman Imraz ‘Clubs’ Ali Found Off Precipice Along North Coast Road

UPDATE (06/11/25): Businessman Damien Deodath and Isaiah Maikoo have been charged with the murder of Chaguanas businessman Imraz “Clubs” Ali, following legal advice from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on Tuesday (4th November, 2025). The latest charges come after Maikoo and two (2) others were previously charged with unlawfully removing a body, under the Coroner’s Act, in connection with Ali’s death.

Investigations have since revealed that Ali’s murder stemmed from a business dispute involving two (2) apartment buildings he owned in Charleville. Police later raided one of the apartments, where several of the accused were held, and discovered that Ali’s body had been carefully and skillfully wrapped in plastic and duct tape (described as being “wrapped like a mummy”) inside the building, before being dumped along the North Coast Road.

UPDATE (15/10/25): An autopsy conducted on the body of Ali on Tuesday (14th October, 2025) revealed that he died from being strangled and severely beaten. Specifically, the report mentioned asphyxia, shock and hemorrhage, and poly-trauma. The main suspect — a businessman — was also arrested after being found hiding at his mother’s home. This brings the number of suspects in custody, so far, to five (5), including a Venezuelan man, a Guyanese woman, and three (3) Trinidadian men.

The body of a prominent businessman was discovered off a precipice along the North Coast Road this afternoon (Saturday 11th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Imraz “Clubs” Ali of Ajodha Road, Cunupia. Three (3) suspects — a Venezuelan, a Guyanese, and a Trinidadian — are said to be in custody relating to his murder, with one reportedly confessing to the crime and leading investigators to the remote location where Ali’s body had been dumped.

Reports state that the detained suspects are tenants of an apartment building belonging to a man who had purchased the building from Ali, but had not fully paid for it. Police described the man as a suspect in this case.

Ali was last seen at approximately 4:00 PM on Thursday 4th September, 2025, as he was leaving a mechanic shop in Freeport, where he went for a suspension-check on his white-coloured Toyota Crown (PBT 7377). He was reportedly then dropped off at the corner of Temple Street, Bamboo, by a business associate identified as Damien Deodath, in a black Nissan X-Trail (PDT 6829), with a large bag of cash. Ali had not been seen or heard from since that day.

He previously owned a popular bar on Rodney Road, Endeavour, Chaguanas, and was involved in buying and reselling vehicles.

Relatives reported Ali missing after he failed to return home and attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful. No ransom demands were reported.

A $100,000 reward was offered by Crime Stoppers to anyone who could help locate Ali.

Ali’s body was found wrapped in plastic and duct tape this afternoon, and a cutlass was used to slice open the plastic during the recovery operation. The surrounding grass was cleared earlier today in order to provide easier access to the steep, heavily bushy area.

A large team of law enforcement and emergency personnel were at the scene, including ACP Richard Smith, members of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II, Fire Service Search and Rescue Team, undertakers, and other specialized units.

Friends and family described Ali as hard-working, generous, and without any known enemies.

Investigations are continuing.

More on this as it becomes available.
