Mother And Son Shot Dead In Friendship Village, San Fernando; TWO (2) Other Relatives Wounded

A mother and her son are dead and two (2) close relatives critically wounded following a brutal shooting incident in Friendship Village, San Fernando, early this morning (Friday 10th October, 2025). The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Gracelyn Ramberan and her son, 25-year-old Randy Rampersad, a gardener.

Ramberan’s husband, 58-year-old Vijai Rampersad, and Randy’s wife, Kimberly Rampersad, remain in critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.

According to reports, gunmen stormed the front door of the family’s two-storey home, located at Peterloo Street Extension, and opened fire on the family members, around 2:30 AM. The attackers are believed to have escaped through nearby bushes leading to Cipero Street.

Upon hearing several loud explosions, residents contacted Police and Emergency Health Services.

Ramberan’s body was found at the entrance of the home, while her son’s body was discovered on the roadway in front of the house. Vijai and Kimberly were also found nearby, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were conveyed to the San Fernando General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Relatives and residents say they are unsure of the cause of the deadly attack.

The mass shooting has rocked the Friendship Village community, which was still recovering after 12-year-old Mariah Seenath was found murdered just weeks ago.

Investigations are continuing by Officers of the Southern Division and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region III.
