$30,000 Gold Bera Snatched From Female Police Officer On Charlotte Street
A Woman Police Constable (WPC) was robbed of her expensive gold bera while walking with a colleague in Port-of-Spain on Monday morning (3rd November, 2025).
According to reports, the 48-year-old victim was walking along Charlotte Street in the company of another Police Officer, around 10:00 AM, when she felt someone grab her right elbow and wrist.
As she turned around, the suspect, clad in a green jersey and black 3/4 pants, grabbed her gold bera (a traditional East Indian hand bracelet), valued at $30,000, off her wrist and fled.
This follows many similar robberies in downtown Port-of-Spain and other areas recently, in which robbers snatch gold chains, gold beras and other jewellery from unsuspecting pedestrians on the street.
The WPC reported the robbery incident to her colleagues.
Investigations are continuing by Cpl. Rahim.
More on this as it becomes available.
