Man Shot Dead By Off-Duty Police Officer In Siparia Following Parking Dispute
A man is dead following a shooting incident in Siparia this morning (Monday 10th November, 2025). The deceased has been identified as Zane Bowen of Siparia. He was allegedly shot dead by an off-duty Police Officer during an altercation, following a parking dispute.
According to reports, the Officer, who is said to be on injury leave, had just returned home, at MaHappy Drive, Darsan Trace, Old Fyzabad Road, Siparia, around 7:00 AM, when he was confronted by Bowen, who was holding a cutlass and a piece of wood. Both men got into an argument, and Bowen allegedly followed the Officer into his property and attacked him.
The Officer drew his licensed Glock pistol and fired several shots at Bowen, striking him several times about the body. Bowen then collapsed to the floor.
Relatives said Bowen had been at odds with the Officer for some time, following the Officer’s decision to sublet part of his property to a mechanic, which resulted in vehicles being parked indiscriminately, blocking Bowen’s home, which was located obliquely opposite. Another neighbour previously complained about the vehicles blocking his property.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and Officers of the Siparia Police Station, Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), CSI and CID responded. However, Bowen succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
