Trio Held With US $7,500 In Counterfeit Currency In Curepe
Three (3) persons are expected to appear before a Master of the High Court on Monday (24th November, 2025), charged with possession of forged currency notes.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), reports indicate that an intelligence-led operation was conducted in Area West of the North Central Division, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Tuesday (18th November, 2025), by Officers of the St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
During the exercise, the Officers proceeded to McInroy Street, Curepe, where they paid surveillance to the area and subsequently arrested a 20-year-old male suspect for being in possession of US $1,900 in counterfeit cash. The man was later found to be a Jamaican national who is in the country illegally.
Further checks were made at the home of the suspect, where two (2) female suspects were found, along with US $5,600 in cash.
The female suspects, a 36-year-old Jamaican national and mother of the male suspect and a 32-year-old family friend, were arrested in connection with the find.
The seized cash was later confirmed to be counterfeit by the Forensic Science Centre.
The trio is expected to appear in the Tunapuna Masters’ Court on Monday (24th November, 2025).
The operation was spearheaded by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaggernath and co-ordinated by ASP Bharath and Insp. Peters.
