40-Year-Old Woman Arrested Following Attempted Arson At Residence In La Brea

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 5:18 PM on Saturday (6th December, 2025), Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Sobo Circular Road, Sobo Village, La Brea.

Upon arrival, W/Cpl. Monsegue and PC Boodhan met with the tenant, a 25-year-old woman, who reported that she had been involved in a dispute over rent with her landlord, a 40-year-old woman, and requested Police intervention.

While both parties were being spoken to and warned by the Officers, the landlord was observed walking toward the downstairs area of the two-storey wooden and concrete structure, where she allegedly threw a liquid substance onto the Eastern concrete wall and used an object in her hand to set the wall on fire.

Officers immediately intervened and extinguished the blaze. Minor damage was reported to the Eastern side of the building.

The landlord was arrested and taken to the Guapo Police Station, pending further enquiries.

PC Boodhan is continuing investigations.

The TTPS is reminding members of the public that disputes should be resolved through lawful and peaceful means and encourages persons to seek assistance from the Police when necessary.
