Dual National Returns To Trinidad — Faces Firearm And Ammunition Charges

Sangre Grande Police have arrested and charged a dual national for multiple firearm and ammunition offences, stemming from incidents dating back to December 2023.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the suspect, a 55-year-old man who resides in both Texas, USA, and Sangre Grande, came to the attention of Police following a domestic dispute report in December 2023. During a search of his Baker Trace, Wallenville residence, Officers discovered a Glock-26 pistol and 110 rounds of ammunition, which were reportedly acquired in Florida. On the same day, the accused departed Trinidad for Texas with his wife.

On Monday 1st December, 2025, Officers received information that the accused had returned to the country. A team proceeded to his Sangre Grande residence, where a search was conducted in his presence. During the search, Officers found seventy-five (75) rounds of 12-gauge cartridges. Checks revealed that the accused was not the holder of a Firearm User’s Licence (FUL) and was therefore in illegal possession of the ammunition. The items were seized, and he was arrested.

Following investigations led by PC Bissessar of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID), advice was sought and instructions given to charge the accused with the following offences:

  • Possession of a firearm – 25/12/23.
  • Possession of ammunition – 25/12/23.
  • Possession of ammunition – 01/12/25.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the North Masters’ Court today (Monday 8th December, 2025).
