Over $8.6 Million Worth of Cannabis Seized In Beetham Gardens
Police seized over $8.6 million worth of cannabis during an anti-crime operation in the Port-of-Spain Division on Wednesday (14th January, 2026),
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Officers attached to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) proceeded to a residence located at 11th Street, Beetham Gardens, where a search was conducted in accordance with the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025. The search was carried out in the presence of the occupants of the premises.
While searching a bedroom, Officers discovered 111 multi-coloured rectangular packages containing cannabis, weighing a combined total of 78.52 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $8,617,334.44.
Two (2) men, aged forty-five (45) and thirty-two (32), along with a woman, were arrested in connection with the discovery and were conveyed to the SIU Main Office.
The operation was co-ordinated by Snr. Supt. Edwards, Supt. Etienne, ASP Lynch, and ASP Morales, supervised by Insp. Ag. Nixon and Sgt. Gillead, with support from Cpl. Jack, an SIU team, and the assistance of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
Enquiries are continuing under the supervision of Cpl. Mendoza.
