Watch: TPP Supporter Pulls KNIFE On PNM Supporters During Altercation In Bon Accord

A fight between PNM supporters and a TPP supporter turned violent this afternoon (Sunday 11th January, 2026), outside the office of PNM candidate Dominique Kerr in Bon Accord, Tobago.

According to reports, a female supporter of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) alleged that supporters of the People’s National Movement (PNM) pulled a TPP flag from her car and set it on fire.

However, the PNM supporters claimed the flag fell off and said the TPP supporter made insulting remarks during an argument. PNM supporters also alleged the TPP was distributing money for votes.

A knife was reportedly pulled during the ensuing altercation, which was captured on video by Che Teekersingh of CNC3.

More than 50,000 registered voters are expected to head to the polls on Monday (12th January, 2026) as Tobago prepares for elections to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), with political parties completing final mobilization efforts this weekend. Police have also confirmed a heightened state of readiness, with security arrangements already in place for polling day. Officers will be deployed across the island to ensure a peaceful, orderly and secure election process.

The TPP, led by Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, is staging an islandwide rally today (Sunday 11th January, 2026) as part of its final push ahead of polling day. The event is expected to traverse several districts across the island, engaging supporters from East to West.

In the 2021 THA elections, Farley's team won a landslide victory of 15 - 1 while under the umbrella of the Watson Duke-led Progressive Democrat Party (PDP). Farley severed ties with Duke in 2023 and subsequently formed the TPP, which has been endorsed by Duke in this year's elections.

On the opposing side, the PNM has opted for a traditional motorcade today, with candidates also engaging voters on the ground.

Smaller parties are also contesting the election.

Voter turnout will be closely watched on Monday. In the last THA election, held in December 2025, turnout stood at 51.84%.

Election officials are urging all eligible voters to exercise their franchise peacefully and in accordance with the law.

More on this as it becomes available.
