32-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead In Edinburgh 500; 2 Men Wounded — Police Investigating
UPDATE: CCTV footage of the fatal shooting has emerged, which shows gunmen approaching the front of the property and opening fire on the trio as they attempted to scamper for safety. The gunmen then ran off.
A woman is dead and two (2) men wounded following a shooting incident in Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, last night (Friday 17th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Shanice Morris, a former employee at Guardian Life. Her young son, who was nearby at the time, was not harmed.
According to reports, Morris drove to visit her boyfriend, Keon Alexander, at his residence, located at the corner of Victoria Drive West and Queensway Drive, Balmoral Park, Edinburgh 500. Upon arrival, she left her 6-year-old son seated in the vehicle and entered the yard.
Moments later, however, gunmen opened fire in the yard and Morris was caught in the attack.
She was shot and subsequently died in the driveway. The child reportedly heard the gunshots but was not physically injured.
Alexander was also wounded in the attack. He is said to be the brother of Jaelani Garcia Williams, 30, who was gunned down in March outside a mini-mart in Edinburgh 500.
A Special Forces soldier was also shot. He has been identified only as “Almorales.” The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. All wounded victims were conveyed to Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Speaking to Crime Watch host, Ian Alleyne, Morris’s father said he had repeatedly warned his daughter to end the relationship with Alexander, long before his brother was murdered.
Struggling to process the loss of his daughter, her father said, “I warned her many, many times to discontinue that relationship…even before the first murder.” He added, “It’s an indescribable pain. It’s an inconceivable and indescribable feeling.”
Police do not believe Morris was the intended target.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including possible motives.
More on this as it becomes available.
