If you’re looking for a brief overview of the very latest rumors of what we can expect at this iPhone 17 event, scroll down below for details.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be one of its most ambitious in years, with four (4) distinct models rumored to debut: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a brand-new addition — the iPhone 17 Air. Unlike the discontinued “Plus” models, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to carve out its own identity as Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet, measuring just 5mm – 6mm thick. Positioned against Samsung’s ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, this model could spark a new trend in minimalist smartphone design, though questions remain about whether its slimness will come at the cost of battery life.
Display upgrades are also a major talking point this year. For the first time, Apple may extend its 120Hz “ProMotion” technology to non-Pro models, including the iPhone 17 and 17 Air. That means smoother scrolling, more responsive touch input, and more efficient refresh rate management for all models.
Screen sizes range from 6.3 inches on the standard iPhone 17 and Pro, to 6.65 inches on the Air, and 6.7 inches on the Pro Max. Meanwhile, the Pro models are tipped to get a new vapor chamber cooling system for improved heat management and sustained performance. Under the hood, all devices are expected to be powered by Apple’s new A19 chips. The standard iPhone 17 will run the regular A19, while the Pro and Pro Max get the souped-up A19 Pro. Interestingly, the Air might ship with a slightly modified A19 Pro, giving it an edge over the base model.
Camera upgrades are equally significant: all front-facing cameras could jump to 24MP, while the Pro models move to a triple-lens 48MP system with improved 8x optical zoom. By contrast, the Air may only sport a single rear camera, reminiscent of Apple’s more budget-friendly offerings.
Battery life is another area of interest, with across-the-board improvements rumored. The iPhone 17 Pro could see the biggest leap, boasting an 18.7% larger battery than its predecessor, which Apple insiders suggest could add up to four (4) more hours of usage. The Pro Max may break the 5,000 mAH barrier for the first time, potentially making it the longest-lasting smartphone on the market. However, the ultra-thin Air has raised concerns, with a smaller 3,149 mAH battery that’s significantly weaker than the rest of the lineup.
Color options also vary by model, with a striking new orange hue reserved for Pro devices.
Finally, Apple is rumored to refresh its accessory ecosystem alongside the iPhone 17 release. Expect the Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3, Ultra 3, and AirPods Pro 3 to make an appearance, with upgrades ranging from satellite connectivity on the Ultra to heart rate monitoring on the new AirPods.
The lineup is expected to debut at Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event today (Tuesday 9th September, 2025), with pre-orders starting this Friday and general availability on 19th September, 2025. The launch will coincide with iOS 26, bringing a bold “Liquid Glass” redesign to Apple’s devices.
