T&TEC: NO Electricity Overnight On Saturday In Parts of Santa Cruz

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Santa Cruz between 10:00 PM on Saturday (1st November, 2025) and 6:00 AM on Sunday (2nd November, 2025). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Santa Cruz are as follows: Along the Saddle Road from Pole #245 (N101290), inclusive of Undercover Garden Centre Limited and all associated side streets. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

Trough To Affect T&T On Saturday [5-Day Weather Outlook]

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), the axis of a Tropical Wave, which passed last night (Thursday 30th October, 2025), is now to the near-West of Trinidad and Tobago and is moving away, with trailing instability still expected to be affecting most of the Lesser Antilles today (Friday 31st October, 2025). The axis of a closely-following trough is presently near 58W and is moving Westward at approximately 10 kts. Moderate convective activity associated with this trough is expected to cross Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward and Southern Leeward Islands tomorrow (Saturday 1st November, 2025), with medium chances for isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms. Increased surface convergence and moisture build-up generally over the Southern Windward Islands on Tuesday (4th November, 2025) and Wednesday (5th November, 2025) are likely to produce medium to high chances for heavy showers or thunderstorm activity. Supermarket Association Urges Responsible Shopping — ‘Supplies Remain Stable’ Across Supermarkets

The Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) said it “wishes to assure the public that there is no need for rushed shopping in light of recent news reports . Our members remain well-stocked, and supply chains continue to function normally.” In a Public Notice issued today (Friday 31st October, 2025), SATT said, “We urge customers to shop responsibly, as this helps ensure that everyone in our communities can access the goods they need. Supermarkets across the country will continue to work closely with suppliers to maintain consistent availability of all products, including essential items. Government Issues Statement On Current Heightened Sense of Anxiety And Concern In T&T

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago said it “notes the current heightened sense of anxiety and concern in the national community based on false news reports suggesting that there will be an imminent change in the status of the national and regional security environment.” In a Media Release, the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs said, earlier this afternoon (Friday 31st October, 2025), White House Spokeswoman Anna Kelly denied reports that the United States was imminently poised to engage in military action in the region and advised that “Any announcements regarding Venezuela policy would come directly from the President.”  According to reports, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) has been placed on high alert, with all army personnel ordered to report to base within the next few hours. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar Oversees First Relief Shipment To Jamaica Following Hurricane Melissa Devastation

Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, visited the PLIPDECO Warehouse Complex at Point Lisas Industrial Estate on Thursday (30th October, 2025), where she oversaw the packing and preparation of the first shipment of humanitarian relief supplies from Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. At least twenty-eight (28) people, including an 18-year-old pregnant woman, were reportedly killed when Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm , slammed into the island on Tuesday (28th October, 2025), according to the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper. State of Emergency: Parliament To Debate Motion Today To Extend SoE By Another THREE (3) Months

UPDATE 2: The motion to extend the State of Emergency (SoE) for a second time was passed in the House of Representatives with twenty-seven (27) Government votes in favour and twelve (12) Opposition votes against. There were no abstentions.  The Government now has an additional three (3) months of enhanced emergency powers, despite fierce objections from the Opposition. Attorney General John Jeremie, who piloted the motion, insisted the SoE remained a critical national-security instrument to support active operations targeting criminal gangs and organized crime networks. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), hot and sunny conditions today (Friday 31st October, 2025) will be interrupted by a few partly cloudy spells, with light to moderate showers occurring at times. There is also a medium (40%) chance of a few heavy showers and/or thunderstorms. Some cloudiness will persist overnight with few showers.  The Met Office notes that gusty winds and street/flash flooding are possible in the event of heavy showers and/or thunderstorms. The forecast maximum temperature today will be 32°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 31°C at Crown Point in Tobago.  Seas are moderate with waves 1.5m to 2m in open waters and below 1m but occasionally choppy in sheltered areas.  Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Toco and Couva on Friday (31st October, 2025). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Toco and Couva are as follows:  TOCO (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM) From LP #346 to LP #374 along Toco Main Road, Rampanalgas, including Khan's Avenue and Bmobile Rampanalgas cell site. COUVA (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) From the T&TEC M5000 Substation to LP #70 along the Carli Bay Road and all associated side streets, inclusive of Ibis Avenue and Palm Avenue, Carli Bay Road. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

36-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Car Park of Valpark Shopping Plaza

A man is dead following a shooting incident in the car park of Valpark Shopping Plaza last night (Wednesday 29th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Miguel Lawrence of Cap-de-Ville Main Road, Point Fortin. He was the father of a 4-year-old boy. According to reports, Lawrence was leaving a nightclub, located at the plaza, when he sent a female companion to purchase a bottle of tequila from a nearby bar, around 10:50 PM. However, shortly after, she heard several loud explosions resembling gunshots. When she returned, she found Lawrence lying motionless on the ground, bleeding from a head wound. His busted gold chain was found partially around his neck. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was also summoned and pronounced Lawrence dead at the scene at 11:53 PM. The body was later removed to the Forensic Science Centre by Ideal Funeral Home. The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) said it recently completed an investigation into the planned “Caroni Krab Dash - Flat Bottom & Small Boat Race” event, originally scheduled for 25th October, 2025. The inquiry was prompted by numerous concerns raised by members of the public regarding the potential environmental impact of the event on the biodiversity living within Caroni Swamp. In a Media Release today (Thursday 30th October, 2025), the EMA said, “In response to these concerns, the EMA engaged with event organisers, D Krab House Barge, to review the potential risks associated with the race. Officers from the EMA's Environmental Police Unit, in coordination with game wardens and Praedial Larceny Officers from the Forestry Division, conducted a detailed assessment of the proposed racecourse, which stretched from the Maritime Drain to the El Socorro Ext. Freeport Man Dies After Detached Truck-Container Slams Into Pickup Along Rivulet Road, Couva

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along Rivulet Road, Couva, on Wednesday evening (29th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Mark Clevon Ramdhan of Rajkumar Trace, Arena Road, Freeport. He died at the scene when a truck’s container broke loose and slammed into his pickup, and another car, before coming to a stop in nearby bushes. According to reports, the truck and container were proceeding in an Easterly direction along Rivulet Road, around 6:45 PM, when, approximately 200 metres from the traffic light intersection, the fifth wheel broke off from the container, causing the container to detach from the tractor-truck. The heavy container then collided with a grey Ford pickup, driven by Ramdhan, who was travelling in the opposite direction.  The container also collided with a white Toyota sedan (PCP 4943), then came to a stop in some bushes on the Northern side of the road. BODY of Missing 66-Year-Old Subash Ranjitsingh Found With Gunshot Wound In Arouca

The body of a missing man was found in a bushy area in Arouca on Wednesday morning (29th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 66-year-old Subash Ranjitsingh of Goolie Trace, Pasea Village, Tunapuna. Ranjitsingh, who was reported missing recently, was found shot to death. According to reports, a man walking through a track in the area stumbled upon Ranjitsingh’s body, around 8:30 AM, and alerted Officers at the Arouca Police Station. Upon arrival at the scene, they found the deceased lying in a bushy area just off Cemetery Street, Windy Hill, Arouca. He was of East Indian descent, approximately six (6) feet tall, slim-built, brown in complexion, barefoot and clad only in a red t-shirt and long blue jeans. Police observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound beneath his left ear. Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, is dismissing Venezuela’s move to declare her “persona non grata” ( A Latin phrase meaning “unwelcome person.” Legally, it refers to the practice of a State prohibiting a diplomat from entering the country as a diplomat ). Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg just shared Meta's third quarter earnings report this afternoon (Wednesday 29th October, 2025). The company reported revenue of US $51.24 billion, beating Wall Street's estimates of US $49.5 billion. Earnings per share of the social media giant and AI hyperscaler, however, came in at US $6.03, compared to estimates for US $6.72. The stock fell more than 9% in after-hours trading.
