36-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Car Park of Valpark Shopping Plaza

A man is dead following a shooting incident in the car park of Valpark Shopping Plaza last night (Wednesday 29th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Miguel Lawrence of Cap-de-Ville Main Road, Point Fortin. He was the father of a 4-year-old boy.

According to reports, Lawrence was leaving a nightclub, located at the plaza, when he sent a female companion to purchase a bottle of tequila from a nearby bar, around 10:50 PM. However, shortly after, she heard several loud explosions resembling gunshots. When she returned, she found Lawrence lying motionless on the ground, bleeding from a head wound. His busted gold chain was found partially around his neck.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) was also summoned and pronounced Lawrence dead at the scene at 11:53 PM.

The body was later removed to the Forensic Science Centre by Ideal Funeral Home.

Lawrence was captured on video with his girlfriend shortly before he was gunned down.

Crime scene investigators recovered several items of evidential value.

Police are yet to determine whether the killing stemmed from an attempted robbery or a confrontation that may have occurred inside the club, with the gunmen possibly waiting for him in the car park.

Investigations are continuing.
