Freeport Man Dies After Detached Truck-Container Slams Into Pickup Along Rivulet Road, Couva

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along Rivulet Road, Couva, on Wednesday evening (29th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Mark Clevon Ramdhan of Rajkumar Trace, Arena Road, Freeport. He died at the scene when a truck’s container broke loose and slammed into his pickup, and another car, before coming to a stop in nearby bushes.

According to reports, the truck and container were proceeding in an Easterly direction along Rivulet Road, around 6:45 PM, when, approximately 200 metres from the traffic light intersection, the fifth wheel broke off from the container, causing the container to detach from the tractor-truck. The heavy container then collided with a grey Ford pickup, driven by Ramdhan, who was travelling in the opposite direction. 

The container also collided with a white Toyota sedan (PCP 4943), then came to a stop in some bushes on the Northern side of the road.

Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified. PC Samad and other Police Officers, as well as Fire Officers of the Couva district, responded.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) was also summoned, who pronounced Ramdhan dead at the scene.

The body was ordered removed to a funeral home, pending a post-mortem later this week.

The vehicles involved in the collision were impounded at the Couva Police Station.

A grieving relative shared on social media, “This is difficult for me to post, but yesterday my family lost my cousin Mark Clevon Ramdhan after an unexpected accident. At just 35, we’ve lost our sweet Clev. Life will never be the same.”

Investigations are continuing into the fatal freak accident.
