EBC Releases Preliminary Results of 2026 THA Elections — 50.69% Voter Turnout

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is advising that the preliminary tabulation and verification of results from the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) elections, held on Monday (12th January, 2026), have been completed in accordance with established electoral procedures.

In a Media Release today (Tuesday 13th January, 2026), the EBC notes that of the total registered electorate of 53,239 voters across fifteen (15) electoral districts in Tobago, voter turnout was recorded at approximately 50.69%.

The distribution of votes received by the political parties is as follows:

  • IDA - 181
  • PNM - 10,456
  • TPP - 16,240
  • UTP - 8

The total valid votes were 26,885, and the total rejected ballots were 104.

Based on the preliminary count, the EBC said the Tobago People's Party (TPP) has won all fifteen (15) electoral districts.

The People's National Movement (PNM) has formally requested recounts in the following electoral districts:

  • Darrel Spring/Whim;
  • Scarborough/Mt. Grace.

The requested recounts are scheduled to commence at 3:00 PM today (Tuesday 13th January, 2026).

The Media Release concluded by saying, “The Commission emphasises that these results are preliminary and remain provisional, pending the completion of the recounts and the final validation process.”
