Bunji Garlin Reverses Road March Decision — Enters Race On Fantastic Friday
UPDATE (14/02/26): The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO) has confirmed the full list of submissions for the National Road March Competition 2026, with eighteen (18) songs officially entered following the close of registration.
Among the contenders are Bunji Garlin’s “Road Man,” Machel Montano with “Encore,” and the dynamic collaboration between Mical Teja and Patrice Roberts titled “Capital.” Montano also appears twice on the list, teaming up with Paris Coutain on “Move Out D Way,” while Coutain has also submitted the same title as a solo entry.
Aaron St. Louis (Voice) enters with “Cyah Behave,” while J Angel’s “Leggo” and Ninja’s “Pensioner’s Anthem” add to the competitive lineup. Full Blown (Kory Hart & Kevon Hart) is also in the race with “Respectfully Yours.”
TUCO is reminding the public that the Road March title is determined by the song played the highest number of times at designated judging points during the Parade of the Bands on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
Soca artiste Ian 'Bunji Garlin' Alvarez announced this afternoon (Friday 13th February, 2026) that he has decided to enter the Road March race this year, after previously stating that he would not compete. Garlin had pulled out after a controversy involving a Road March judge last year, announcing that she had favoured Machel Montano to win the competition, days before the end of Carnival.
Garlin posted a receipt on his Instagram showing payment for entry into this year’s Road March competition.

The announcement is said to have instantly sent social media into a frenzy, with supporters hailing his comeback as a bold statement and critics watching closely to see how this year’s race unfolds.
With Carnival momentum building, Garlin’s re-entry adds new intensity to what is already shaping up to be a fiercely-contested Road March battle.
More on this as it becomes available.
