34-Year-Old Employee of Murdered Businessman Danny Guerra Shot Dead In Matura
An employee of murdered businessman Danny Guerra is dead following a shooting incident at Trini River Lime Resort in Matura on Monday night (23rd March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Rondell Adolphus, also known as “Patch” or “Ponkie,” of Immortelle Crescent, North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande. He worked as a Quarry Supervisor and machine operator at DG Homes, which was owned by Guerra.
The deadly attack in Matura comes ten (10) days after Guerra was also gunned down.
Both Guerra and Adolphus were previously linked to threats against Minister of Defence, Wayne Sturge, according to Police.
Reports state that Adolphus checked in alone at a cabin at Trini River Lime on Monday (23rd March, 2026), and was later joined by a woman.
The woman told Police that Adolphus left the cabin to get ice from a nearby ice maker, around 9:50 PM. She then heard several loud explosions. Upon investigating, she found Adolphus lying on his back in a pool of blood. He had been shot multiple times.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Officers of the Matura Police Station were first to arrive. However, Adolphus succumbed to his injuries before their arrival.
Crime scene investigators processed the area and recovered ten (10) spent .223 shell casings, one (1) live .223 round, and five (5) spent 9mm shell casings.
Insp. Callender, Homicide Officers PC Rambhajan and PC John, and other Officers, including WPC Derrell, WPC John, PC Nanhoo, PC Seenath, PC James, PC Ramphall and PC Basseano, also visited the scene.
Since Guerra's killing on 13th March, 2026 at his office in Vega de Oropouche, relatives, employees and associates have been living in fear amid several attacks. Gunmen recently riddled his son's home with bullets in a gated community in Vega de Oropouche, while it was unoccupied.
A number of Guerra’s relatives did not attend his funeral on 19th March, 2026 out of concern for their safety.
Residents and associates say the violence has effectively forced them into a state of self-imprisonment, with many afraid to leave their homes.
Investigators said Adolphus was “known to Police,” and he had been held under a Preventive Detention Order (PDO) last November, under the previous State of Emergency. That order identified Adolphus as a member of an Organized Crime Group within the legal definition of the Anti-Gang Act, 2021, which was involved in trafficking of illegal arms, money laundering and illegal quarrying.
It also claimed the gang had access to a cache of high-powered firearms and had been linked to a plan to kill a Minister of Government, though the order never directly named the Minister.
“The detainee and others intend to imminently execute the assassination of a Government Minister and to escalate attacks against rival gangs in public spaces using high-powered firearms.
“The detention of this individual is therefore necessary to disrupt the group’s operational planning and to prevent further acts of violence that pose a clear and present threat to public safety,” the order stated.
This prompted increased security measures for the Minister and his family.
At the time, authorities indicated the threat was tied to illegal quarrying activities and political interference, describing it as both serious and immediate.
Investigations are continuing into Adolphus’ murder, led by PC Rambhajan.
More on this as it becomes available.
