Firearm, Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Mon Repos
Officers attached to the Southern Division Road Enforcement Task Force responded to a report of robbery with violence in the Mon Repos district on Friday (27th February, 2025).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 2:00 PM, a dark blue Hyundai Tucson was reported stolen. Around 2:15 PM, the stolen vehicle was observed along the Golconda Connector Road in the vicinity of the traffic lights. A vehicular pursuit ensued, and the vehicle was intercepted at approximately 2:20 PM in an empty lot of land.
Upon interception, two (2) male suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot in a Westerly direction into nearby bushes. During the foot pursuit, both suspects reportedly raised their hands in the direction of the pursuing officers, and several loud explosions were heard.
In accordance with the TTPS’ Use of Force policy, Officers discharged their service-issued firearms in the direction of the suspects. One suspect was observed to fall but subsequently regained his footing and continued fleeing into nearby bushes, leaving behind a firearm.
Both suspects made good their escape into the surrounding area. The recovered firearm was secured and packaged by CSI personnel, who also processed the stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was subsequently conveyed to the Mon Repos Police Station.
Responding Officers included Ag./Sgt. Seecharan, Ag./Cpl. Matloo, PC Marcus, PC Ramsaroop, and PC Laloo of the San Fernando Enquiries and Operations Unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
