The Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) is seeking the public’s assistance to find two (2) missing sisters. In a social media post today (Monday 23rd March, 2026), the HSRT said 15-year-old Celina Balliram and 12-year-old Alena Baksh, both of St. Croix, Princes Town, were last seen on Friday (20th March, 2026). Their relatives are in contact with the team.

Celina is described as brown in complexion, medium built, four (4) feet-five (5) inches tall, with long black hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue short dress, with a black netted pattern.

Alena, who is light brown in complexion, is slim built and five (5) feet tall, with long black hair, and grey eyes. She was last seen wearing a white crop top and a black short skirt.

According to reports, the sisters have been staying with their grandmother for the past two (2) months. They were last seen on Friday morning (20th March, 2026), around 8:45 AM, when they left home to purchase doubles at a shed in Princes Town. However, when they failed to return home nearly two (2) hours later, a concerned relative informed the grandmother.

Speaking with the Trinidad Express in a telephone interview on Monday (23rd March, 2026), the relative, who asked to go unnamed, said she believed the sisters were targeted by older men on social media.

Both sisters, she added, had active Instagram profiles.

“The Government should have a ban on social media. 100%. They [children] are exposed to all sorts of people. It is dangerous. I don’t think children should have devices; just by scrolling you can be exposed to anything. All kinds of guys coming to message. It could be a girl’s picture and it is really a man. And then they’re saying they’re this person and they’re someone else, someone older. These people are using social media to target the younger ones,” she said.

The relative shared that this was the third time Celina had left home. Each occasion, she said, was for a two-month period. However, this was the first time Alena was missing.

She appealed to the girls to return home, noting that the last time she spoke to them was on Saturday (21st March, 2026), the day after they left home.

I called them. I begged them to come back home, but they said they’re living their life now,” the relative said.

I contacted them via WhatsApp and they cursed me and blocked me. I haven’t spoken to them since,” she added.

The relative revealed that their father was imprisoned last month for robbery, and their mother was unable to continue caring for her daughters. Since that time, she said both girls and their young siblings, ages five (5) and eight (8), have been living with their grandmother in Princes Town. The girls, she said, have not attended school since Carnival.

Celina, who attends the Princes Town West Secondary School, is in Form Two, while Alena is a Standard Four student of the St. Stephen’s Anglican Primary School.

“Their grandmother is working and cares for her bedridden daughter. Her hands are full to have to look over the girls,” the relative added.

Have you seen the sisters?

Anyone with information on their whereabouts can contact the HSRT at 799-1453, or 999, 555, 911, 800-TIPS (800-8477), or contact any Police Station.

Please share quickly. Let us get Celina and Alena home today.
