Breaking: Trump Agrees to 2-Week Ceasefire With Iran — If Strait of Hormuz Is Re-Opened

United States President Donald Trump announced a short while ago this evening (Tuesday 7th April, 2026) that he has agreed to suspend attacks on Iran for a period of two (2) weeks, subject to the “immediate” re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz, pointing to progress on a 10-point proposal from Tehran.

Earlier in the day, Trump had escalated his aggressive rhetoric toward Iran in a post on Truth Social, threatening to wipe out the entirety of the country’s civilization if Tehran failed to cede to his demands by 8:00 PM EST tonight. “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

However, in another post on Truth Social this evening, Trump said the U.S. had received a 10-point proposal from Iran that was a “workable basis on which to negotiate.” He said that “almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to” and that the “two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized.”

According to the President this evening, “Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

A man is dead and a woman wounded following a shooting incident in Valencia early Monday morning (20th April, 2026). UPDATE (18/04/26): A post-mortem examination conducted at the Forensic Science Centre on Friday (17th April, 2026) revealed that Frederick Aaron Stevenson died from blunt force trauma to the head, with investigators alleging he was killed with a sledgehammer before his body was dumped in a forested area off Esmeralda Road, Las Lomas. Investigators believe Stevenson was lured to the home of James Dwaraka under the pretext of carrying out repairs on an air conditioning unit, where it is alleged he was attacked and fatally struck with a sledgehammer on the same day he was reported missing, Saturday 11th April, 2026. According to the Authority, “The planned redirection of domestic passengers through international checkpoints will not take effect at this time.
