U.S. Military Rescues TWO (2) Service Members After F-15E Fighter Jet Shot Down Over Iran
UPDATE (06/04/26): U.S. President Donald Trump broke down the rescue mission to save the F-15 crew in Iran over the weekend, during a Press Conference earlier today (Monday 6th April, 2026), stating the following (courtesy of Collin Rugg on X):
- 155 aircraft in total were used to save the 2nd crew member.
- This included 4 bombers, 64 fighters, 48 refueling tankers, 13 rescue aircraft, and more.
- The second crew member was miles away from the first and was badly injured.
- “The Officer followed his training and climbed into the treacherous mountain terrain and started climbing toward a higher altitude.”
- While “bleeding profusely,” the Officer scaled cliffs and treated his own wounds.
- American forces were able to transmit his location: “They have a very sophisticated beeper-type apparatus that is on them at all times.”
- Thousands of Iranians were looking for the Officer.
- “We had seven different locations where they thought, and they were very confused.”
- “So in a breathtaking show of skill and precision, lethality and force, America's military descended on the area, the real area engaged.”
- The F-15 Weapons System Officer evaded capture on the ground for almost 48 hours.
- Two “large...old” planes got stuck during the rescue operation.
- “We had a contingency plan, which was unbelievable, where lighter, faster aircraft came in and they took 'em out. We blew up the old planes and we blew 'em up to smithereens because we had equipment on the planes...”

United States forces successfully completed the rescues of two (2) American service members from Iran on Saturday (4th April, 2026), after their F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down during a combat mission on Thursday (2nd April, 2026). It was the first known American aircraft to crash in Iranian territory since the U.S. and Israel launched the war on 28th February, 2026.
According to U.S. Central Command, “The service members were safely recovered during separate search and rescue missions. U.S. strikes into Iran continue as U.S. Central Command forces dismantle the Iranian regime’s ability to project power beyond its borders.”
Iran had promised a reward for the remaining “enemy pilot,” before the Colonel was rescued from deep inside the mountains of Iran by U.S. forces during an operation involving dozens of armed aircraft.

In a post on his Truth Social account at 12:08 AM this morning (Sunday 5th April, 2026), U.S. President Donald Trump said the following:
“WE GOT HIM! My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND! This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was never truly alone because his Commander in Chief, Secretary of War, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and fellow Warfighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day, and diligently planning for his rescue. At my direction, the U.S. Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him. He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm, because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation. This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND! The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies. This is a moment that ALL Americans, Republican, Democrat, and everyone else, should be proud of and united around. We truly have the best, most professional, and lethal Military in the History of the World. GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!”
