54-Year-Old Curepe Man Dies At Hospital Days After Alleged Land Dispute Shooting
A man has died from injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Curepe on 29th May, 2026, after remaining hospitalized for several days. The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Inshan Goolsir of Abdool Lane, Curepe. He was allegedly shot by his sister’s boyfriend during a confrontation involving a land dispute.
Goolsir succumbed to his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope on Saturday (6th June, 2026).
According to reports, Officers were alerted to a shooting at Abdool Lane, Southern Main Road, Curepe, around 10:30 PM on Friday 29th May, 2026. Upon arrival, they found Goolsir lying inside a drain surrounded by residents. The victim appeared to have fallen onto a water pipe, causing water to spray around him as he lay wounded and moaning in pain.
Officers immediately conveyed Goolsir to the EWMSC, where doctors treated him for multiple gunshot wounds, including three (3) to the right side of his chest, two (2) to his upper back and another to his right forearm.
While he was initially listed in stable condition and remained warded at Hospital, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries several days later.
Goolsir is said to have been allegedly involved in an altercation earlier that night with his sister’s boyfriend. During the heated confrontation over a land matter, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire, striking Goolsir multiple times about the body, before fleeing the scene in a white Toyota Aqua.
Crime scene investigators recovered a Smith and Wesson .38 Special revolver, five (5) spent shells, and two (2) projectiles believed to be linked to the incident.
The suspect later surrendered at the St. Joseph Police Station and remains in custody.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
